It’s been a tough year

Hi everyone, my name is Libby and I am the Animal Manager at Glebe Farm. Some of you may have met me when you have been visiting the farm.

This last year has been very tough for all us at the farm, as I know it has been for all of you out there. Like you, we have battled on but this latest lockdown has hit us very hard. It is a very expensive time of year for us normally, as a lot of our animals are inside keeping warm on straw beds, and everyone is eating lots of feed and hay because there is no grass. The horribly wet weather that we have had recently has also meant that many of our fields are full of water so the animals cannot be out grazing as they would normally be.

How you can help us

Normally this extra food and bedding is paid for by the sale of the food that you buy to feed to our animals during the summer. Unfortunately this income has been severely reduced due to the various lockdown restrictions we have been through. We know lots of you love our animals just as much as we do, and we really want to keep Glebe Farm a free community attraction and we have big plans for the future. We could just do with a little bit of help to get us through this tough time.

I know the farm is close to many of your hearts, and we are all missing chatting to you about our animals. We know you must all be as frustrated as we are that you can’t come and visit us and see our stars, such as Shaun and Mr Pickles the sheep and Zeus the escapee goat! However if you feel you would still like to support the animals, even though you can’t be here, then we are setting up a few ways that you can do this.

Amazon Wish List and Go Fund Me

I have attached a link to our brand new Amazon Wish List. This has lots of essentials for our animals such as feed and bedding, as well as some treats for them too, to keep them entertained until they can see their adoring public again. There are all sorts of things listed that will really help us to carry on caring for all of the Glebe Farm animals.

We have also set up a Go Fund Me if you would like to donate, all the money raised will go directly to feed and care for our animals and we will post updates of how it is spent so you can see exactly where your support is going. I have attached the link below.

Look out for our blogs

Something else we will be launching is a weekly farm blog, on our website, to keep you up to date with what is going on. The most exciting news however is that we are going to be launching our very own Glebe Farm YouTube Channel! This will bring you lots of educational videos. Most will be probably be very amusing as well, if the goats have anything to do with it!

If anyone would like to help in any other way or has any fundraising ideas, I am more than happy to answer any questions and help in any way I can. You can email me directly on animals@glebefarm.co.uk, call me on 07517 127284 or drop us a message via our Facebook page.

The whole Animal Care Team, most of which are volunteers, work so hard to look after the animals and keep them happy and healthy but we just need a bit of help from you guys at the moment.

Thank you from all of us at the farm and especially from the animals, they are all missing you and keep looking around for their adoring fans.
